The Faculty of Social Sciences (former Faculty of History and Pedagogy) of the University of Opole was established on October 1, 1996, being one of the successors of the former Faculty of Philology and History. In 2012 it received a positive rating from the Polish Accreditation Committee for the years 2012-2018. This assessment confirms the high standard of teaching and research conducted in all its institutes.
The study programmes offered by the Faculty comprise all three levels of higher education: BA, MA and PhD. The Faculty can confer doctoral and post-doctoral degrees in history, and doctoral degrees in philosophy, pedagogy and political science.
